OPERATIONS

Tessa

There is rarely a company where there is no department that does not interact with almost all other departments – that's where we come in!

In the Operations team, we work hand in hand with accounting, procurement/sales, quality management, and logistics. We support all departments and strive to simplify work on a daily basis. Our tasks are accordingly cross-functional and diverse. In day-to-day operations, there are, of course, fixed daily tasks, such as checking delivery notes, reviewing purchase invoices, and monitoring inventory. But there are also new challenges and, of course, the opportunity to take responsibility for demanding tasks. That's why I enjoy working in this department – no day is like the other, and each one is varied.

ACCOUNTING

Yvonne

In the Accounting department, we are responsible for recording all our corporate business transactions with no gaps or omissions. Our tasks include correctly booking all incoming invoices, making sure that payment transactions run smoothly, keeping statistics, and issuing tax returns.

I enjoy working in this department because I can deal with a wide variety of tasks on my own while knowing that I have a great team behind me.

Vanessa

PROCUREMENT

Vanessa

In Procurement, which basically means purchasing, we are responsible for buying and negotiating the prices of fruit and vegetables from many different continents. These can be anything from African grapes and Spanish oranges to South American bananas!

What’s so exciting about this department is that you are in direct contact with suppliers and farmers’ cooperatives and have the opportunity to go on business trips to where the products come from. This gives you a great insight into farming, production and culture in the respective countries

I can’t imagine a better or more exciting job! It’s great!

MARKETING

Carolin

In the Marketing department, we are responsible for making messages visually appealing and emotionally charged, and for communicating them internally and externally. To do this, we provide content for various media across a number of channels. Among other things, we are responsible for print ads, promotional materials, packaging design, photo shoots and the company’s presence at international trade fairs. We also do a lot of work online. This includes the set-up and maintenance of our websites and brand blog as well as content planning and production for our social media profiles. We have internal interfaces with the Sustainability and Distribution departments in particular.
I love it when ideas become holistic concepts and appealing campaigns. I enjoy developing them in teamwork and working with others towards a common goal.

Nico

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Nico

The Quality department cooperates with other departments to make sure that customer requirements are met. We handle queries from customers, suppliers and end-consumers besides assisting other departments with evaluations, document management and quality matters.

I have been working for Port International since 15 October 2004 and love the challenges we tackle as an interdepartmental team. The many tasks and different characters in the company brighten my day and make my work interesting and varied.

Nils

IT

Nils

Our IT department takes care of the corporation’s entire IT infrastructure. We are continually improving our IT systems, developing our IT-supported merchandise management system still further, and performing updates and data backups.

I enjoy having new challenges to solve every day. It’s the wide range of tasks and frequent contact with colleagues and service providers that make my daily work so interesting.

Lisa

SALES

Lisa

In the Key Account Management department, we are responsible for reconciling the customer’s wishes and the company’s interests. Our challenge is to act as a link between all departments while continually optimising processes and negotiating between the various parties in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

The job is very varied, demanding, and requires a considerable degree of personal responsibility; in my opinion, this is what makes it so exciting and attractive.

Axel

LOGISTICS

Axel

In the Logistics department, we “move” the fruit and vegetables from A to B while keeping the individual needs of the cargo in mind. We plan, manage and monitor the road haulage from beginning to end. In doing so, we make sure to choose the best possible route to save time and resources – this eases the strain on the environment. Our core tasks also include price negotiations for transport. Here we work with different carriers to make sure we stay flexible.

I love the variety in our day-to-day work. The daily challenges mean my job never gets boring; our team emerges stronger from every problem solved.

Mitja

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

Mitja

The Supply Chain Management (SCM) department serves as a link between Purchasing and Sales, and we cooperate closely with Key Account Management during the course of our daily business. Our responsibilities include issuing sales orders, performing daily inventory checks, and updating and checking disposition spreadsheets.

I like working in this department since you can tackle new challenges every day and are assigned interesting, responsible tasks.

I particularly like the cohesion and helpfulness within the team, which helped me get off to a good start when I joined the company.

Jan

SUSTAINABILITY

Jan

The issue of sustainability has become increasingly important, both for Port itself and for our customers and suppliers. Climate protection, CO2 reduction, freshwater protection and sustainable water use, reduction of food waste, biodiversity, living wages, Fairtrade as well as corporate due diligence – these are just a few examples of the topics we deal with in the sustainability department.

We accompany our producers and business partners from the initial idea to the concrete implementation of joint projects. With our BE CLIMATE brand for climate-neutral fruit and vegetables, we are asserting ourselves in the industry as a pioneer in sustainability.

For me personally, it is of utmost importance that my job has meaning – and this is exactly what we live in our department. Here, we can make a difference and see to it that our company as well as the supply chain become a little more sustainable every day.
