Port International is expanding its Exclusive Partner Programme to include its long-standing supplier Agromartín. A recent video illustrates the successful collaboration between the two companies, which, through a synergy of tradition, innovation, and sustainability, together supply the European market with top-quality fruit.
Agromartín is a leading producer of high-quality strawberries and stone fruits from Huelva, Spain. The family-run business was founded over 40 years ago and exclusively produces the “Candela” strawberry variety and the “Early Super Sweet” nectarine variety for Port International. The partnership between the two companies, built on over 20 years of collaboration, represents not only exceptional product quality but also a deep friendship.
”Our partnership with Agromartín is unique. We work closely with a company that combines the highest quality standards with sustainable and innovative cultivation methods. The Candela strawberry is the result of an exclusive collaboration – a variety known for its exceptional flavour, pleasant strong fragrance, and long shelf life,” emphasizes Philippe Peiró, Managing Director of Port International European Sourcing GmbH.

Exclusive premium products for the European market
Agromartín cultivates around 108 hectares of strawberries and 253 hectares of stone fruits. Its geographical location near the border with Portugal, with over 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, provides optimal conditions for cultivation, allowing Agromartín to produce particularly early and high-quality fruits that enrich supermarket shelves in Europe.
“The Candela strawberry, developed in our own research and development department, starts its season as early as December, significantly extending the availability of strawberries,” explains Victoria Martín, Head of Marketing at Agromartín.
Sustainability, social responsibility, and intercultural exchange at the forefront
Agromartín not only relies on state-of-the-art technologies and sustainable cultivation methods but also places great importance on the well-being of its workers. The company has established exemplary accommodations for its employees, resembling a small village. People from different cultures come together here, live and work side by side, and promote intercultural exchange. A special highlight is the shared celebration of national holidays and the communal cooking of traditional dishes. These community activities contribute significantly to making employees feel welcome and comfortable.

“We are committed to creating an environment where our employees can thrive both professionally and personally. Through intercultural exchange and mutual respect, we foster a harmonious coexistence and strengthen team cohesion,” explains Victoria Martín.
In addition to social responsibility, Agromartín is committed to sustainable production methods, including the use of drip irrigation, biological pest control, and the installation of solar panels to reduce CO₂ emissions. The company is also certified for its sustainable water management under the SPRING module of GLOBALG.A.P. and actively engaged in environmental protection.
Exclusive collaboration for retail
For European retail, the exclusive collaboration between Port International and Agromartín offers a clear competitive advantage. Consumers can rely on consistently high quality, sustainable production, and fruits with exceptional taste.
“Supermarkets benefit from our high standards for quality and taste. Our products are the result of passionate work and innovative technologies that meet consumers’ expectations,” says Jose Antonio Martín.
